The Space Age™ Triton™ Rex Begonia (Begonia rex 'BRXCW26-0') stands out with its shimmering, silver-dusted foliage and compact, mounded form. The dark green leaves feature smooth edges and a mist of silver that glistens like morning dew. With a mature size of 15-18 inches in both height and width, this begonia creates an eye-catching display in shade gardens and containers. Its unique texture and soft glow make it a perfect addition for adding depth and interest to shaded patios, porches, and indoor spaces.

This rex begonia is both heat-tolerant and rabbit-resistant, making it a low-maintenance option for a variety of settings. It thrives in part to full shade and is an excellent choice for containers, hanging baskets, or as a houseplant. The dense foliage helps it fill in garden spaces beautifully, complementing other shade-loving plants. Space Age™ Triton™ is prized for its foliage rather than flowers, but its understated elegance remains captivating throughout the growing season.

Space Age™ Triton™ Rex Begonia Care

Plant in nutrient-rich, well-drained soil with a neutral to slightly acidic pH. Partial to full shade (no more than four hours of direct sunlight) is ideal to preserve the leaf color and prevent scorching. Water regularly to keep the soil evenly moist but avoid oversaturation, as standing water can damage the roots. Fertilize weekly with a water-soluble plant food during the growing season to support healthy, lush growth. Adding a layer of mulch around the base can help retain moisture, especially in hot climates.

To maintain its compact shape, prune faded or damaged leaves as needed. If grown in a container, check the moisture level frequently, as potted plants tend to dry out faster. This begonia is an annual in most regions but can be overwintered indoors in zones with frost. Bring it inside before temperatures drop and place it in a bright but indirect light area to enjoy its beauty year-round.

Space Age™ Triton™ Rex Begonia Spacing

Allow 15-18 inches between plants in mass plantings to promote good airflow and prevent overcrowding. For container arrangements, use a pot at least 12 inches wide to accommodate its growth and create a fuller look. As a filler in mixed containers, it pairs well with taller and trailing shade plants, enhancing the overall composition with its silvery glow.
