Stardiva® Blue Fan Flower (Scaevola aemula) delights the eye with star-shaped flowers in a soft violet-blue tone, forming a bright focal point from spring until frost. Pollinators swarm its blooms in search of nectar, drawn to the tiny white bullseye near each flower’s throat. At only 4 to 8 inches tall, this trailing annual fits nicely along edges or in containers, adding pops of color wherever it’s placed. Stardiva® Blue Fan Flower Care

Plant in full sun or at least six hours of direct light each day, providing average, well-draining soil. Soil with a neutral to slightly acidic pH provides the best results. Water moderately, especially during the first few weeks, then scale back once it establishes deeper roots. A monthly feeding of balanced fertilizer helps maintain steady growth and ongoing blooms. 

Clip back any damaged foliage whenever needed to maintain a tidy appearance. Trim any lanky stems if they outgrow their space, though heavy pruning is generally unnecessary. In containers, use a high-quality potting mix and water more frequently to combat faster drying times. If frost is a concern in your region, treat this plant as an annual or move pots indoors once temperatures drop.

Place each plant about 10 to 14 inches apart in the ground to create a thick mass of color. For container growth, select a pot at least 10 inches across so the stems can trail freely and showcase their starry blooms.
