Mature Spread
Steel Tower™ Eucalyptus gunnii is grown for its fragrant, silvery foliage. This plant thrives in either a container or the ground. The stems are frequently cut and used in flower arrangements.
Because of the plant’s bushy shape, it makes a beautiful backdrop for tall flowers. In containers, you can use this plant as an upright thriller. Eucalyptus Steel Tower is hard to kill; it is heat and drought tolerant and deer and rabbits avoid it. It will grow well down south where it gets and stays hot all summer.
Steel Tower Eucalyptus Care
Eucalyptus Steel Tower should be fertilized sparingly with a water-soluble fertilizer or with slow-release fertilizer. Pruning is limited to dead or sick branches. This plant needs about the same water as most other plants when growing. While Eucalyptus Steel Tower will appreciate water during the hot season, it is tolerant of drought and heat once it gets established.
The plant needs full sun and well-drained soil. Eucalyptus Steel Tower will not make it through the winter unless you bring it in while it is cold outside.
Steel Tower Eucalyptus Spacing
If you grow Eucalyptus Steel Tower in a container, make sure it is a big one; the plant grows to be three feet tall and two feet wide. Because of its size, Eucalyptus Steel Tower needs to be 18-24 inches from other plants, or it will overwhelm them and crowd them out.
