Mature Height

Mature Spread
The Striped German Tomato Plant is an heirloom variety. Large beefsteak tomatoes are 1 to 2 pounds and feature alternating red and yellow spots even once mature. The large tomatoes have a mild fruity flavor and grow on large, upright plants. This plant is indeterminate and will continue to produce tomatoes until the weather turns cold.
Striped German Tomato Plant Care
Plant Striped German outdoors when the temperature is consistently warm and there is no longer the possibility of frost. Space plants 3 feet apart so the branches can spread out, and select a site in full sun. These tomatoes prefer slightly acidic soil with a high organic content and good drainage.
Growing Striped German Tomato Plant
Mature plants will stand 5-7 feet tall and 2-3 feet wide, and will require cages or a trellis for support. Due to their size, Striped German Tomato Plants often do best in ample garden space where they can spread out. Tomatoes are ready to pick in 78 days.
Most tomato plants can be grown in containers if given a large enough pot. Plant the Striped German Tomato in a 20-inch wide pot with drainage and provide a trellis or support.
Watering Striped German Tomato Plant
Tomato plants need consistent water to set large fruit. Water the soil when the top couple of inches are dry, especially after the tomato sets flower. Give the plants a deep drink to establish strong roots.
Feeding Striped German Tomato Plant
Routine fertilization helps plants thrive and supports a large harvest. Apply a 6:24:24 fertilizer or a formula for tomatoes every few weeks during the growing season.
