Sun Parasol® Fired Up Coral Dipladenia (Dipladenia hybrid) presents striking coral-hued flowers that appear steadily from spring into fall. Its compact form, often reaching 2 to 3 feet in height, fits seamlessly into smaller garden beds or containers. Glossy green leaves offer an attractive backdrop that sets this variety apart from many other tropical blooms. Many gardeners appreciate it for color that remains impactful even through high heat and humidity.
Sun Parasol® Fired Up Coral has a bushy habit, semi-evergreen foliage, and strong pest resistance. Dipladenia, native to tropical regions of the Americas, naturally adapts to warm climates but can be grown as a patio plant in cooler areas. It suits containers, hanging baskets, or mixed borders, bringing a bold statement wherever it’s placed. Moderate drought tolerance and minimal maintenance add to its appeal.
Sun Parasol® Fired Up Coral Dipladenia Care
Plant it in well-drained soil enriched with compost, and place it where it receives full sun or at least six hours of direct light. Water regularly during active growth, keeping the soil slightly moist but never waterlogged, and reduce watering in cooler months. A balanced, water-soluble fertilizer applied every few weeks encourages steady blooms. Slightly acidic to neutral soil pH supports healthy roots and lush foliage.
Remove spent flowers by pinching them off, which tidies the plant and encourages new bud development. Light trimming can shape lanky growth, while heavier pruning or thinning is best done in early spring. Container-grown Dipladenias can be moved indoors before frost, though they may lose some foliage in low-light winter conditions. Keep them in a bright spot, water sparingly, and return outdoors once temperatures are reliably above 50°F.
Sun Parasol® Fired Up Coral Dipladenia Spacing
Place plants about 12 to 18 inches apart to create a low screen or mass planting, which gives them room to expand. A single specimen can be showcased in a container at least 10 to 12 inches wide, allowing enough space for root growth and branching. Larger pots reduce the need for frequent watering and can house a support structure for the plant to climb.
