Sun Parasol® Fired Up Orange Dipladenia (Mandevilla hybrid 'FiredUp Orange') sets gardens aglow with bright orange trumpet-shaped flowers from late spring through summer. Glossy, oval leaves remain lush, providing a bold contrast to the warm petals. This vine typically reaches around 20 to 24 inches in height, making it easy to manage in containers or on trellises. It stands out among similar plants with a long-lasting color display and minimal upkeep.
Though native to tropical regions of the Americas, this dipladenia adapts well to garden beds or patio pots in many climates. The showy blooms attract pollinators, and the thick foliage resists common diseases. Deer rarely bother it, and its moderate drought tolerance serves busy gardeners. Train it against a fence, pair it with companion flowers in a border, or feature it in a hanging basket.
Sun Parasol® Fired Up Orange Dipladenia Care
Plant it in full sun for the brightest color, though partial sun is acceptable in hotter areas. Use a well-draining, slightly acidic to neutral soil mix, and water consistently to keep the root zone gently moist without saturating it. Feed every couple of weeks with a balanced fertilizer during the growing season. Avoid soaking the roots to prevent issues such as rot.
Deadheading spent flowers extends the colorful display. Pinch or thin any crowded branches to help air circulate, and shear lightly if the plant becomes leggy. Trim back older growth in late winter or early spring to encourage fresh shoots. In colder zones, bring container-grown specimens indoors before frost, or prune them back heavily to overwinter in a sheltered spot.
Sun Parasol® Fired Up Orange Dipladenia Spacing
For rows or group plantings, allow 12 - 16 inches between each vine. A solitary specimen in a mixed border or near a walkway benefits from enough room to spread freely. Start with a container at least 12 to 14 inches in diameter, and move up in pot size if you plan to keep the plant for multiple seasons.
