Whether you want a tropical look, or a cottage-garden feel, this showy, flowering vine will be a focal point in your garden. The large, glossy, green leaves are resistant to humidity, pests and disease. Pale pink flowers can reach up to 5-inches wide. They bloom continuously from planting to frost. This bushy vine has a garden height of 120-180 inches.
Sun Parasol® has improved disease resistance. It is native to the Southwestern United States, Mexico, Central America, the West Indies, and South America. Therefore, like all tropical plants it loves heat. The vine with its twining stems is perfect for an arbor or trellis. Make it a focal point or specimen in the landscape, or in a container.
Sun Parasol® Giant Pink Mandevilla Care
This Mandevilla is low maintenance. Deadheading is not necessary. It likes regular watering with an average amount of water. Plant it in a location that receives part sun to sun. Preferring heat, it will struggle below 45 degrees F. In containers use a potting soil with good drainage.
You may want to try overwintering the plant indoors where it will stop flowering and drop some leaves but can survive if you don’t overwater. Treat for spider mites and mealybugs if necessary.
Sun Parasol® Giant Pink Mandevilla Spacing
This vine has a spread of 24-36 inches. Plant just one in a large container. Space plants 12-24 inches apart in the landscape.
