Mandevilla ‘Sun Parasol Giant White’ is like a big white umbrella that vines. Huge white flowers smother the vine whether it is a hanging basket or a container! Glossy green leaves help it twine up a trellis or a tuteur in a pot. In a hanging basket it trails along like the tropical plants you see in the movies. It is a continuous bloomer from planting until frost.

Of course mandevillas are like the movie “Some Like it Hot”. They do best in hot temperatures and full sun for best blooms. ‘Sun Parasol Giant White’ is a great plant for those summer days. It is hardy from Zone 10a-11b but you can bring it inside for the winter with care.

Sun Parasol® Giant White Mandevilla Care

Caring for Sun Parasol® Giant White Mandevilla outdoors is easy. It just needs average watering and grows best in a container or hanging basket that is at least 12-14 inches wide to allow for root growth. Fertilize once in the spring with a slow release fertilizer is all that is needed. There is no need to deadhead it either since it just keeps on blooming.

Inside for the winter it will prefer keeping the soil on the dry side to avoid root rot and a bright but cool room to avoid any insect issues. If you do have insect problems check with a local garden center for the appropriate treatment. It won’t bloom inside for you but will continue to grow and you will have a much bigger plant come the following spring.

Space these plants out 12 - 24 inches apart, center on center. In containers, provide at least 12 inches diameter around the plants to allow them to reach mature size and optimal health.
