- Ready to Harvest in Just 65 Days!
- 24-36 Inches Tall
- 24-30 Inches Wide
- Plant in Full Sun
Sweet, tart, and perfectly delicious, Sun Gold cherry tomatoes are a joy to grow! An abundance of golden-orange, 1” fruit grows in bunches on the plant, and is ready for harvest just 65 days after seeds are started. The flavor of these cherry tomatoes develops earlier than most, so can be harvested early depending on your preference for taste. They are a great snacking tomato, and are also great in salads, quiches, sauces, and casseroles. Sun gold cherry tomatoes are an indeterminate tomato variety, so they bear fruit all season long.
Sun Gold cherry tomatoes produce golden-orange fruit that is sweet and tart. Tomato foliage is toxic and should not be consumed. Pruning is not necessary unless you are growing on stakes. Store at room temperature or in a cool room, avoid refrigeration.
Sungold Cherry Tomato Plant Care
Cherry tomatoes are warm-season vegetables that can be damaged by frost. Wait until after your last frost to plant your seedlings outside. Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before your last frost. Plant into a compost-enriched, mulched garden bed that gets full sun. Add a tomato cage or support structure after planting. No pruning is necessary unless you are growing on stakes. If growing on a stake, prune back to one or two main stems and continue to prune back any suckers or additional stems. Harvest all near-ripe fruit before your first frost and allow to ripen in newspaper or paper bags at room temperature.
Growing Sungold Cherry Tomato Plants
Sun Gold Cherry tomatoes require full sun and moist soil to thrive. They need plenty of room to grow, so plant them 3-4’ apart. Start them indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost and transplant them outdoors after your last frost date.
If growing in a container, make sure it is at least 18” wide. Keep the soil consistently moist and fertilize every other month. Use a tomato cage or structure to support the branches and fruit.
Watering Sungold Cherry Tomatoes
Keep your cherry tomatoes evenly watered throughout the growing season. Additional irrigation in dry spells will likely be necessary.
Feeding Sungold Cherry Tomato Plants
Fertilize once or twice in the growing season with vegetable fertilizer. Feeding the seedlings is not necessary, but can be done with a starter solution at 3-4 weeks old.
