Vibrant, bi-color blooms make the plants in the SunPatiens® Candylicious Impatiens collection stand out. The collection includes Peach Candy, Purple Candy, and Red Candy Impatiens. The notched petals sometimes almost appear heart-shaped and overlap, creating a full flower. The bi-color flowers have a contrasting accent color along the center of each petal that radiates out from the eye. The flowers in this collection are magenta, dark pinkish-purple, and light pink, all with red accents. The flowers continue to bloom from spring through frost.
Feature the SunPatiens® Candylicious Impatiens in mixed beds, borders, or containers. Ovate, green foliage gives these flowering plants a dense and lush appearance. Plant them together for a lovely mass planting, or grow them throughout a space for a cohesive look. Impatiens work as a filler in a container. These low-maintenance plants are good for busy or forgetful gardeners or anyone interested in bright and bold colors. Impatiens are heat tolerant and disease resistant and hold up nicely in warm summer climates.
SunPatiens® Candylicious Impatiens Care
Plant the SunPatiens® Candylicious Impatiens in full sun. Partial shade supports growth but expect more blooms when the plants receive at least 6 hours of direct sunlight. The right soil is vital for Impatiens and enables them to thrive. Use rich, slightly acidic, moist, and well-drained soil. Water weekly or when the top layer of soil is dry. Container plants need water more often, possibly daily, depending on the available sunlight. Apply a balanced fertilizer every two weeks to encourage new growth.
Deadheading is not mandatory, but it keeps the plants looking nice. Trim Impatiens by one-third when they look leggy or straggly. Mid-summer is typically a good time to give them a rejuvenating trim.
SunPatiens® Candylicious Impatiens Spacing
Mature plants grow 24 inches tall and wide. Space plants 24 inches apart in a bed, or grow three plants in a 16-inch wide container.
