The bold and colorful flowers of the SunPatiens® Compact Deep Red Impatiens make a striking addition to a landscape. This hybrid cultivar offers up the brightly colored, showy blooms Impatiens are known for, but with the ability to handle more sunlight for more flexible placement options. The overlapping petals on these Impatiens are a deep, saturated red hue contrasted by the dark green foliage. This annual will continue to bloom from planting until frost.
Feature the SunPatiens® Compact Deep Red Impatiens in landscapes or containers. As a medium-height plant, this variety will reach 14 to 32 inches tall, so feature it in the middle of plantings or in front of tall plants. The bold blooms look great as part of a group planting in a landscape. Use these Impatiens in a container to add a burst of color to a tabletop or fill out a combination planting.
SunPatiens® Compact Deep Red Impatiens Care
Plant the SunPatiens® Compact Deep Red Impatiens in part to full sun. This variety can handle at least 4 to 6 hours of direct sunlight. This plant still has increased water needs and prefers somewhat damp soil like other varieties of Impatiens. Increased light can dry the soil out more quickly, so be mindful of the amount of light the plant receives and water when the top inch of soil dries out. Use slightly acidic, rich soil that promotes drainage. Feed the plant using a balanced, all-purpose fertilizer every other week.
Impatiens can overwinter indoors. Cut the plants back and place them in a window that receives bright light. Monitor the soil and water when the top couple of inches feel dry.
SunPatiens® Compact Deep Red Impatiens Spacing
The SunPatiens® Compact Deep Red Impatiens grows 14 to 32 inches tall and spreads 24 to 36 inches. Plants can be spaced 12 to 24 inches apart to create a full planting. A 10- to 12-inch container can accommodate 3 to 4 Impatiens.
