Sunpatiens are the best of both worlds of the old fashioned impatiens and New Guinea impatiens. ‘Compact Pink Candy’ is an easy to grow SunPatiens that loves the sun, is not prone to the diseases that bother impatiens and blooms its head off all season long! And the flower color is fabulous too. The large petals are pink, frosted with shades of red and light purple atop beautiful green foliage. It actually reminds me of cotton candy!
This SunPatiens is a workhorse in the garden whether it is in a container or in the landscape. ‘Compact Pink Candy’ SunPatiens is an upright plant growing anywhere from 16-30 inches and anywhere from 14-20 inches wide. Nothing else would be needed except to sit there and enjoy the pollinators stopping by for a snack! And it loves the sun so no worries there.
SunPatiens® Compact Pink Candy Impatiens Care
If planting in a container, a good quality soilless potting mix is ideal. ‘Compact Pink Candy’ will grow from part to full sun. If planting in the landscape, you can use it as a focal point in a garden, use it as a border. Just plant them 18-20 inches apart. Very little maintenance is required on this plant. No deadheading is required because it is self-cleaning. It is heat tolerant and once established it needs just average watering and fertilizing.
Compact Pink Candy flowers continuously from first planting until fall, long after other plants have faded away. It is hardy in Zones 10a-11b. Ideally this is grown in the garden and not indoors.
SunPatiens® Compact Pink Candy Impatiens Spacing
It is the ideal plant to use in containers or as a border in the garden. Because it is so floriferous, you could put 3 plants in a 20 inch container and you would have a massive mound of those gorgeous pink flowers!
