Sunpatiens White Impatiens has large (up to 2.5 inches) white flowers against a backdrop of dark green saw-toothed leaves. It is self-cleaning, so you do not have to deadhead it. The blooms last from late spring to frost. Sunpatiens White Impatiens is a vigorous plant that is easy to care for.
Sunpatiens White Impatiens are disease resistant and heat tolerant. You can put this showy mounding plant in containers as a filler and in landscape beds or as a border. Native to eastern Africa, they got their name because when the seeds are ready to plant, they shoot out of the seed pods.
SunPatiens® Compact White Impatiens Care
Sunpatiens White Impatiens like to be in the sun or part shade. The more sun, the more Sunpatiens White Impatiens blooms. The blooms are self-cleaning, so no deadheading is necessary. It is important not to let the plants dry out because they like moist, well-drained soil. If they dry out, the plants start dropping leaves. Sunpatiens White Impatiens does not need fertilizer. If they start looking tired in midsummer, trim them to about six inches tall so they will refresh their vegetation and bloom profusely again.
Treated as an annual in the United States, Sunpatiens White Impatiens is actually a perennial. However, it dies during the first hard freeze. The plant is self-seeding, so along about late May, you will have blooms from the new plants that grow from the seed. However, the plants are usually available a full month early from nurseries, so most people buy new plants to plant again after the last freeze in their area.
SunPatiens® Compact White Impatiens Spacing
Sunpatiens White Impatiens reach up to 30 inches tall at maturity. They have a medium spread of up to 20 inches wide. Sunpatiens White Impatiens need a space of 12-24 inches, or they get crowded and start blooming less.
