For a prolific chili pepper with an excellent taste, you won’t go wrong with the Super Chile Hot Pepper Plant. Also known as Capsicum annuum 'Super Chilli', this plant can produce up to 300 red and green fruits up to 2.5 inches long per plant. As a hot pepper with a Scoville rating of 40,000 to 50,000, this pepper is ideal for flavoring dishes, either fresh or when dried. Not only is the Super Chile Hot Pepper Plant super productive, but it is also highly ornamental and will add a burst of color wherever you grow it.

Super Chile Hot Pepper Plant Care

For the heaviest yields, Super Chile is best grown in full sun. If growing more than one of these amazing pepper plants, they should be planted 18-24 inches apart. As a tender plant, the Super Chile Hot Pepper should only be planted out once all risk of frost has long passed. Select a planting site with fertile and free-draining soil.

Growing Super Chile Hot Pepper Plant

The Super Chile Hot Pepper Plant loves warmth and sun and is suitable for any sheltered, south-facing spot or for growing in a greenhouse or polytunnel. With its peppers harvestable in around 75 days, you could be enjoying its flavorsome heat in no time. Its fruits change from green to orange and red as they mature.

If grown in a container, this small, compact plant requires a pot size of 12-14 inches and a rich compost mix to support its growth. When potted, this pepper will require more frequent watering than if grown in the ground.

Watering Super Chile Hot Pepper Plant

The Super Chile Hot Pepper Plant likes to be grown in moist, but free-draining soil that is not overly wet or saturated. In general, a weekly watering will suffice depending on the growing conditions. Check the moisture level of the soil prior to watering.

Feeding Super Chile Hot Pepper Plant

To encourage your pepper plant to keep fruiting, a fertilizer can be applied once the first flowers appear. A general or tomato-specific fertilizer can be applied as instructed.
