Looking almost like miniature roses or hibiscus, the flowers on Superbells Double Amber are special. The color is like old gold, or mango with thin red veining and a red ring. Like all the Superbells, the flowers are countless, and just keep coming until frost, with no deadheading needed from you.
Staying under a foot tall, Superbells Double Amber will be a delicious ingredient in your container recipes this summer. They can trail up to 30 inches, so they are wonderful for hanging baskets, urns, or at the edges of window boxes or raised beds. Calibrachoa are called mini petunias because of their tubular shaped blossoms, which also attract hummingbirds. Their sheer abundance of flowers and ease of care makes them unbeatable for containers in sun to part-shade.
Superbells® Double Amber Calibrachoa Care
Calibrachoa can grow in part sun to sunny exposures, in average to fertile soil, but like a pH of 5.4-5.8. They do require excellent drainage, so we recommend pot culture over the landscape, unless your soil is exceptionally well drained and tends toward dry weather in summer. As such, they prefer to dry out between waterings, and never like to sit in water. Calibrachoas also benefit from regular balanced fertilizing such as a water-soluble fertilizer applied regularly.
If leaves are yellowing despite consistent fertilizing, the pH may be too high or low. You can amend this with an application of iron chelate (sprays are absorbed faster than granular treatments) which should green up your Double Amber’s leaves again quickly. Pruning for shaping or encouraging full branching can be done at any time, ideally along with some liquid-soluble fertilizer.
Superbells® Double Amber Calibrachoa Spacing
The ideal space to allow for your Double Amber Superbells is 12- 24 inches, center on center. This gives the plant enough space for proper air circulation and enough room for thr roots to grow.
