Oh, sweet Cali! Superbells® Double Orchid Calibrachoa hybrid is a favorite in combination hanging baskets! With long-lasting blooms from spring into fall, this is sure to be a new favorite. It's lovely green foliage is hidden under a confetti of pink ruffled blooms. The lavender-pink flowers have a dainty carnation feel. This calibrachoa is comparatively smaller than a Supertunia bloom but just as prolific. Short in stature, it is 6 to 12 inches in height and spreads up to 24 inches in length. This plant has more of a mounding and trailing habit that typically works well with containers.
It is easy to see why Calibrachoa Superbells is a real winner! It is a continuous bloomer and no deadheading is needed. Native to South America, Calibrachoa tolerates the heat fairly well. This plant is typically used in container planting as a spiller. Try mixing and matching different pastel Calibrachoa combinations to make the perfect Mother’s day or Easter hanging basket.
Superbells® Double Orchid Calibrachoa Care
With little maintenance, Calibrachoa Superbells thrives in part sun to full sun. This plant has average soil and water needs. Use a rich aerated soil that will dry out between watering. Proper watering is key for the best outcome. Fertilize with a slow release fertilizer or fertilize every 2 weeks if using a water-soluble fertilizer in containers. Trim or pinch back tips anytime to promote branching and vigor.
Calibrachoa is an annual and annuals typically focus all of their energy to bloom. Once frost hits, this plant will not survive outdoors in zones lower than 9. Overwintering indoors is not recommended and typically these plants are replaced outdoors in the springtime.
Superbells® Double Orchid Calibrachoa Spacing
Always space plants 8 to 12 inches apart when planting in the landscape or containers. Typically the smallest container recommended for calibrachoas is a 12-inch pot or hanging basket.
