Are you looking for a smaller but full of flowers annual? Then Superbells ‘Tabletop Red” is the ideal plant for you! These Superbells are like the Energizer Bunny, they just keep going and going all summer long well into the fall. Great for smaller containers but is also fabulous in hanging baskets and combination containers too. With its cherry red flowers almost obliterating the foliage, your containers will look like they were made by a professional instead of you!
This is a spiller in a container filling out the planting. Superbells ’TableTop Red’ is a short but very full plant that is drought resistant. In fact it doesn’t like wet feet so don’t keep the soil wet all the time. Like most tubular shaped flowers, hummingbirds are attracted to this plant adding more interest to it. Ideally it is planted in either a hanging basket or a container but it can be planted in the landscape as well as long as it is a raised bed with good drainage.
Superbells® TableTop Red Calibrachoa Care
When planting ‘TableTop’ Red use a good slow release fertilizer at the time of planting as well as regular fertilizing with a liquid fertilizer every 2 weeks. When planting, use a coarser potting mix to improve drainage.
It is insect and disease resistant making it pretty much a carefree plant! If it starts to get a little more open a quick snip with scissors taking off about 1/3 will increase branching and flowers in about a week. Usually that happens about late July and it will keep blooming until frost!
Superbells® TableTop Red Calibrachoa Spacing
This is a low growing plant, growing only 4-6 inches high and 10-16 wide. So if you are planting it out in the garden, place it in the front of the flower bed and just 12 inches apart from each other. Superbells are hardy Zones 9a-11b if you live in those areas. Otherwise consider this an annual for your garden.
