Another great color in the Superbells collection, Yellow Chiffon brings its light buttery yellow blush color to your container or landscape garden. With a delicate brush of yellow on its trumpet shaped blooms, Yellow Chiffon complements any color you want to combine it with, so go crazy and start creating the perfect hanging basket or large patio container this spring for a full season of color that lasts well into fall.
Native to South America and perennial in Zones 9a through 11b, calibrachoa are grown as outstanding annuals in Zones 2-8. Unlike other annuals that can flush out in the hottest part of the summer, calibrachoa will keep churning out continuous long lasting blooms to brighten your garden. Heat tolerant, vigorous growth and easy to care for, what’s not to love?
Superbells® Yellow Chiffon Calibrachoa Care
Calibrachoa are easy to care for once you meet their specific needs. Plant out after the danger of the last frost has passed, in fast draining soil, give consistent waterings, and regular feedings with a slow release fertilizer at time of planting followed by applications of a water soluble fertilizer periodically throughout the summer and fall. The soil should be slightly acidic at pH 5.5 to 5.8. Locate your planters in full sun with some afternoon shade for best display of color.
Deadheading is not required as this annual self cleans its spent blossoms. Lightly shearing your plant when first established will encourage branching and increased flower production. Prune again in mid to late summer for a refreshed burst of energy, especially if your plant has gotten leggy and is not in its best shape. Calibrachoa are easiest to maintain when planted in containers, however, a raised bed garden with controlled soil moisture is also a good option for most gardeners.
Superbells® Yellow Chiffon Calibrachoa Spacing
Space your new plants 8 to 12 inches apart. Calibrachoa grows up to 12 inches tall but spreads out up to 24 inches, trailing and cascading over the edge of your planter or basket up to 24 inches. Pair with other sun loving annuals like verbena, petunia, lobelia, salvia or choose one or more of the 41 other colors in the Superbells collection of improved hybrid calibrachoa for an outstanding long season display.
