SuperCal® Premium Rose Star Petchoa displays a striking fusion of bubblegum pink petals and bold fuchsia stripes in a star-shaped pattern. The abundant blooms unfurl from early spring through the first frosts, offering a steady dose of color to hanging baskets, window boxes, and garden beds. This hybrid’s large flowers draw the eye with their crisp tones, while the sturdy stems hold up well under varying weather conditions. The self-cleaning flowers ensure consistent freshness with very little effort.
Bred from both petunias and calibrachoas, SuperCal® Premium Rose Star Petchoa carries the best of each parent: the petunia’s size and vigor, combined with the calibrachoa’s bright shades and tolerance for heat and rain. The mounded growth habit reaches around 14 to 24 inches tall, making it suited for mass plantings or as a decorative accent in border edges. Butterflies and hummingbirds often drop by for a taste, and the nonsticky foliage ensures minimal mess. It is especially lovely in container arrangements, where the cascade of color can spill over edges.
SuperCal® Premium Rose Star Petchoa Care
Plant this petchoa in well-draining soil with a pH range near neutral to slightly acidic. Position it in full sun or at least six hours of direct light each day for the best floral display. Moderate watering is recommended, letting the topsoil dry slightly between drinks to prevent soggy roots. A monthly dose of balanced fertilizer encourages continuous blooms through the warmer months.
Pinch off faded blooms to prolong the display and maintain a tidy shape. Light trimming in midsummer encourages new growth and keeps the overall shape compact. Select pots with drainage holes for container growth to keep roots healthy and allow for regular watering. Overwintering is possible in frost-free areas by reducing watering and moving the plant to a sheltered spot when night temperatures drop; in cold areas, treat this plant as an annual.
SuperCal® Premium Rose Star Petchoa Spacing
Space each plant about 14 to 22 inches apart to allow the mounded form to spread freely. When using larger containers or hanging baskets, opt for pots around 10 to 12 inches wide to give roots ample room.
