SuperCal® Premium Sunray Pink Petchoa (Petunia x Calibrachoa hybrid 'SAKPXC022') brings forth pastel-hued, trumpet-shaped blooms that command attention from spring all the way to the first frost. Each flower marries gentle pink and lavender tones with a subtle golden center, giving a graceful appeal to window boxes, hanging baskets, and garden beds. Its hybrid lineage unites the showy petals of petunias with the colorfast performance of calibrachoas, creating a seamless display under both scorching heat and unexpected rains. In our experience, this self-cleaning annual requires minimal upkeep while delivering an enduring splash of pastel color.
Beyond the attractive blooms, SuperCal® Premium Sunray Pink Petchoa boasts a naturally mounded shape and durable foliage that stays fresh through daily exposure. Hummingbirds often drop by, drawn by the open-faced flowers. Many gardeners appreciate the plant’s ability to bounce back quickly from summer storms or late frosts, thanks to its robust genetics. Its moderate size adapts well to container arrangements, borders, and mass plantings, offering a soft yet noticeable accent in any sunny spot.
SuperCal® Premium Sunray Pink Petchoa Care
Begin planting once the danger of frost passes, choosing soil that drains properly and has a pH near neutral. Provide at least four to six hours of sunlight per day, and water regularly to keep the soil moderately moist without oversaturating roots. Fertilize with a balanced, water-soluble product once each month to encourage steady blooms and healthy foliage. Occasional pinching of leggy stems keeps the plant compact and encourages more flower production.
Give the plant a midseason trim if you want a refreshed burst of color and tighter growth. Potted specimens benefit from slightly more frequent watering, especially during hot spells or windy days on a porch or patio. Bring containers to a protected spot if an early frost threatens; however, this Petchoa typically grows as an annual in regions with cold winters. In mild climates, it may endure longer, provided the root system isn’t exposed to freezing conditions.
SuperCal® Premium Sunray Pink Petchoa Spacing
Allow 14 to 22 inches between each plant in rows or mass plantings, so the trailing growth has room to expand and access airflow and sunlight. A container at least 12 inches in diameter offers ample space for the root system and allows the stems to cascade over the side.
