This hybrid Petunia is native to South American. Supertunia Giant Pink Petunia does an excellent job at attracting hummingbirds and butterflies. This plant can literally be added everywhere in the garden. It looks great as an edging plant, groundcover, or planted in masses. It does an amazing job as the spiller in container culture. Imagine bountiful, pink trumpet flowers cascading down a hanging basket. This pink petunia is so vigorous that the pot itself cannot be seen. Supertunia Giant Pink Petunia is sure to make your neighbors envious.
Supertunia Giant Pink Petunia Care
Supertunia® Giant Pink Petunia requires little maintenance and re-blooms often with no deadheading required. It requires full to part sun. Since it has a reputation for being a heavy feeder, apply a slow-release fertilizer at the initial planting. If at any time this plant gets too leggy, trim off ⅓ of its growth and apply regular applications of water-soluble fertilizer. Its soil and water needs are average but may need supplemental watering. Hanging baskets tend to dry out quicker than larger containers or landscape plantings. Be vigilant about watering, especially in the heat of the summer. Ensure that the roots don’t completely dry out. Twice daily watering or irrigation will help mitigate any potential watering issues.
Hardy to zones 10-11, Supertunia Giant Pink Petunia is an annual in zones 9 and below. Typically this plant does not overwinter well and it will last outdoors from planting to frost.
Supertunia Giant Pink Petunia Spacing
Supertunia Giant Pink Petunia spreads 24 to 36 inches. When designing combination pots, plant it in at least a 14-inch pot and position it closer to the edge to encourage a trailing effect. Space this plant at a minimum of 12 inches in a container and up to 24 inches when spacing it in the landscape.
