Supertunia Mini Vista® Plum Veined Petunia (Petunia hybrid 'WGPETSMVPV25') enchants the eye with fuchsia pink petals accented by striking plum veins. Its slightly mounded shape stays compact yet creates a plush, trailing effect that shines in containers or garden edges. The medium-to-large blooms appear in a profusion of color from spring right through the first frost. We've found that this petunia brings a reliable pop of long-lasting hues to any sunny spot.
Beyond the gorgeous tones, these low-maintenance annuals handle intense heat and require no deadheading to maintain their continuous display. They also tolerate short dry spells once established, and hummingbirds often visit their trumpet-shaped blooms. Use them for mass plantings in landscapes, as edging plants near pathways, or as spillers in hanging baskets. Their tidy habit keeps pathways clear while still softening hardscape edges.
Supertunia Mini Vista® Plum Veined Petunia Care
Plant in well-draining soil enriched with compost or well-rotted manure for best results. Provide at least four to six hours of direct sun each day, with consistent watering to keep the soil evenly moist but not drenched. Feed landscape plantings once at the time of planting with a slow-release fertilizer; if the season is long, a second application supports prolonged blooming.
Remove any damaged stems to maintain a tidy appearance. Trim back up to one-third of the plant’s volume if it begins to look tired or leggy, followed by a dose of liquid fertilizer to encourage renewed branching. Container specimens may need extra water during hot spells to prevent wilting, especially if planted in smaller pots. Feed container plants weekly with a water-soluble product to maintain robust blooms and steady growth.
Supertunia Mini Vista® Plum Veined Petunia Spacing
Space each petunia 12 to 18 inches apart when planting in the ground to allow for full, healthy spreading. For container growth, pick a pot at least 10 inches wide to accommodate the trailing stems and plentiful root system.
