The Supertunia Mini Vista® Ultramarine Petunia flowers are smaller than other petunia cultivars, but the deep, velvety purple hue makes them stand out. This hybrid is a prolific bloomer that continues to bloom from spring until frost. Oval leaves that come to a gentle point and feature a bright green color are interspersed between the trumpet-shaped flowers.

Use this Petunia as a ground cover, or give it a hanging basket and let the stems trail. The mounded, trailing growth habit makes this plant a natural spiller in a mixed container. The flowers support pollinators like bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. This Petunia is heat tolerant, and the durable petals can handle intense summer storms and inclement weather.

Supertunia Mini Vista® Ultramarine Petunia Care

The Supertunia Mini Vista® Ultramarine Petunia needs part sun to full sun. It can tolerate four hours of sun but blooms best with six or more hours. Plant it in slightly acidic, fertile soil. The soil should be moist but still promote drainage. Water when the top inch of the potting mix is dry; potted plants will need water more often. Feed the Petunias using a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every two weeks or apply a slow-release fertilizer when planting and again halfway through the growing season.

Deadheading isn’t necessary, but remove faded flowers to keep the plant tidy and encourage more blooms. Cut the stems back by one-third halfway through the growing season or sooner if they start to look leggy.

Supertunia Mini Vista® Ultramarine Petunia Spacing

While the flowers are tiny, the plant itself is a standard size for a Petunia. The Supertunia Mini Vista® Ultramarine Petunia grows 6 to 12 inches tall, and the stems spread or trail 18 to 24 inches. Space plants in a bed 16 to 20 inches apart or feature up to three plants in a 12-inch pot.
