Wish upon a shooting star! Supertunia Mini Vista® Violet Star Petunia hybrid is that wish that keeps on giving! This plant spreads vigorously up to 24 inches and it reaches 6 to 12 inches in height. Its bushy, mounding green foliage easily drapes over the side of any garden space and softens border edges. Expect long lasting blooms from Spring till Fall frost. Its bloom has a gorgeous violet blue star pattern that creates a dazzling display of color that is truly one of a kind.

This annual is both vigorous and versatile. It has profuse blooms that butterflies and hummingbirds love and flowers that require no deadheading. Once established, this South American native is both heat and drought tolerant and adapts to arid, full sun garden sites. Violet Star petunia makes a great filler addition in container combination planting. Try this petunia hybrid as a groundcover or decorate a high window box or balcony with purple regal stars.

Supertunia Mini Vista® Violet Star Petunia Care

Supertunia Mini Vista® Violet Star is easy and low maintenance. It has a wide range of adaptability from part to full sun areas. Soil should be well draining and it has average watering needs. Once established, this plant can bounce back from periods of drought with ease. Trim ends at any time and only cut up to ⅓ of its volume at one time. Trimming helps to increase branching, vigor, and stimulate blooms. Petunias are heavy feeders and do well with slow release fertilizer at the initial planting with a second subsequent slow release fertilizer application mid season. In containers apply an initial slow release fertilizer and subsequent regular water soluble fertilizer regime to keep blooms prolific.

This annual cannot survive frost or freezing temperatures. Typically this plant is hardy in zones 10 and 11. Overwintering indoors or outdoors in more temperate zones is not recommended.

Supertunia Mini Vista® Violet Star Petunia Spacing

Space this plant at least 12 to 18 inches apart when planting in the landscape and leave as little as 6 inches apart from each plant in container and combination plantings. Use a 12 inch hanging basket or 14 inch container minimum. Violet Star can be competitive in combination plantings, so choose plants that match its vigor.
