- Height 6-12 Inches
- Width 18-24 Inches
- Use as a filler when using in containers
- Provides a continuous splash of color from planting to hard frost!
For vigorous flower power choose this head turner with its mass of small to medium flowers in shades of purple. Supertunia® Mulberry Charm Petunia hybrid has soft, lavender blooms with plum-colored eyes and veins providing a continuous splash of color from planting to hard frost. Proven Winners bred the Charm series to flower earlier. It grows 6-12 inches tall with a mounding habit. It trails or spreads up to 24 inches. Penn State gave it the Top Performer award.
The plant is heat and drought tolerant. It attracts butterflies and hummingbirds. Petunias have been around for hundreds of years, perhaps back to South American descent. In containers Supertunia® Mulberry Charm acts as both a spiller and a filler. It works well in hanging baskets, combination containers, and window boxes. Use it in mass plantings, as a ground cover, or as an edging plant near the front of the border. Include this petunia in combination plantings in pots and in the landscape for a gorgeous effect.
Supertunia® Mulberry Charm Petunia Care
While classic petunias are a garden standby, Supertunias® excel as they not only bloom profusely, but self-clean so that deadheading is never needed. They are heavy feeders, benefiting from a controlled release fertilizer at planting, then a soluble fertilizer, such as fish emulsion, every couple of weeks throughout the summer.
You can give them a trim at any time; for example, shearing off about 20% just up to the bottom of a hanging basket. Be judicious with water and make sure the soil is well drained, as too much water will cause the plants to become leggy. Plant them in part sun to sun, in average soil. When growing them in containers, use a free-draining, soilless potting mix.
Supertunia® Mulberry Charm Petunia Spacing
Supertunia® Mulberry Charm is stunning in a hanging basket, both alone or as a trailing plant in a mixed planting. Space them 12-24 inches apart in the landscape. You may plant them closer together in pots with five or six in a 12-inch container.
