It has a fabulous mounding trailing feature that reaches 12 inches in height and it has a reach of 18 to 24 inches. Its full green foliage is shrouded in a cloche of dark violet blooms that last all Spring and Summer long. Incorporate Supertunia® Royal Velvet® Petunia into your perfect garden sanctuary and create a magnificent purple tapestry of blooms just like royalty.
Like all Supertunias, these particular petunia hybrids have the advantage of tolerating heat and drought and no extra work of deadheading is needed. Supertunia® Royal Velvet® Petunia hybrid also does an excellent job at attracting hummingbirds and butterflies. Incorporate this flower as a spiller in combination containers, window boxes, and hanging baskets. Keep your garden bed radiating with a velvety purple carpet of blooms, especially when planting in masses.
Supertunia® Royal Velvet® Petunia Care
Just water regularly, ensure full sun, and add supplemental fertilizer to ensure the best success. Container plants tend to demand more attention because containers tend to dry out faster and have less soil space for roots to grow. Supplemental watering and more frequent fertilizer applications are typically needed for plants in containers. Trimming is not essential, but it can be helpful to stimulate flower development and vigor.
Supertunia® Royal Velvet® Petunia is an annual that especially likes warm summer days or the warmest zones of 10 and 11. Frost is detrimental to this plant. Typically this plant will only survive one year or one growing season and overwintering indoors is not recommended.
Supertunia® Royal Velvet® Petunia Spacing
The smallest container recommended for this plant is a 14-inch pot. Regular fertilizing is the key to bigger and bushier container plants. Unlike containers, Supertunias can be spaced further apart. We recommend spacing these plants anywhere from 12 to 24 inches away from each other.
