The Supertunia® Sharon Double Petunia has large pink and white double flowers. They bloom from late spring/early summer to hard frost. They provide a three-season buffet for butterflies and hummingbirds.
Supertunia® Sharon Double Petunias are native to South America. They are heat tolerant and grow into a nice mounding trailing plant that works as a spiller in containers. Supertunia® Sharon Double Petunias can be planted in landscapes, mixed containers, window boxes, and hanging baskets.
Supertunia® Sharon Double Petunia Care
Supertunia® Sharon Double Petunias are heavy feeders. Landscape plants will need fertilizing with a slow-release fertilizer when planted and again in mid-summer. Container plants will need the same fertilizer when planted. However, they will need regular fertilization with a water-soluble fertilizer starting two months after they are planted. Supertunia® Sharon Double Petunias do not need deadheading. In the middle of summer, if the plant looks open and leggy, trim up to 1/3 of the plant away. Then give it an application of fertilizer. You won’t have flowers for a week, but you will have lots of blooms after that.
Supertunia® Sharon Double Petunias need moderate soil moisture, so water regularly, especially in containers, window boxes, and hanging baskets. They like sun to part sun. Supertunia® Sharon Double Petunias are vigorous. Be careful that you plant them with other vigorous plants in a container or landscape or they will take over. While technically a perennial, Supertunia® Sharon Double Petunias are grown as a long blooming annual in the United States. They will not survive the winter in the United States.
Supertunia® Sharon Double Petunia Spacing
Supertunia® Sharon Double Petunias are 6-12 inches tall. However, they trail up to 30 inches and spread out 18-24 inches so they can have quite a footprint. You should leave 12-24 inches between Supertunia® Sharon Double Petunias and the surrounding plants.
