If you want to make your friends jealous of your garden, using the exciting new award winning Supertunia Trailing Silver Hybrid is the way to go! This very floriferous petunia is something a gardener dreams of for their garden. This long blooming and lightly fragrant petunia blooms from spring until frost even during a drought. And the color is something new in the Supertunia family of plants with white flowers tinged with purple veins and a purple eye.
Supertunia Trailing Silver Hybrid thrives in just about any climate in North America making it an ideal plant for almost any area. Since it is petunia, it has a deep flower throat and it attracts all kinds of pollinators including hummingbirds. Petunias do best when watered on a regular basis and not allowed to dry out. Since Supertunias are very vigorous plants they should be planted in a larger container or in a large hanging basket that is at least 12 inches across.
Supertunia® Trailing Silver Petunia Care
Care of ‘Supertunia Trailing Silver Hybrid’ is simple. It prefers full sun although will tolerate partial light shade. When planting, you should use some granular time release fertilizer as well as fertilizing with a liquid fertilizer on a regular basis since they are heavy feeders.
To keep them really full, a quick snip taking them back about 1/3 in mid to late July increases their blooms for the rest of the year. Disease is rarely a problem on petunias making them more carefree than other plants in the garden.
Supertunia® Trailing Silver Petunia Spacing
While it is considered an annual in most parts of the country it can be a perennial in Zones 10a-11b. This low growing petunia (only 4-8 inches tall) will fill your hanging baskets with no deadheading, cascade across your flower beds or tumble out of a container making you look like a professional gardener. And it would be ideal for covering an ugly hillside turning it into a thing of beauty!
