Supertunia Trailing Strawberry Pink-veined petunia almost looks good enough to eat. Darker pink veins highlight the strawberry-pink flowers as they trail from a pot or scamper along the ground. An award-winning petunia in northern and southern states, this summer-bloomer is tough.
As a trailer, it gets 4 to 8 inches tall, but cascades up to about to 36 inches, continuously blooming along the way. The plant is drought and heat tolerant. Butterflies and hummingbirds regularly visit the trumpet-shaped flowers. Supertunia comes in 25 other colors.
Supertunia® Trailing Strawberry Pink Veined Petunia Care
These plants are not fussy and very easy to maintain. For best performance, you can provide slow release fertilizer when planting either in containers or in the ground. Although drought tolerant, Supertunias do best with regular watering, just make sure the soil dries out completely between waterings.
Deadheading (removing spent flowers) is not necessary. If the plant gets straggly, cut it back several inches (up to a third of the plant’s current size) and it will rebound nicely within a week. And it’s ok if the plant has a tacky feel to it. That’s normal.
Supertunia® Trailing Strawberry Pink Veined Petunia Spacing
Use one in most container plantings. In the ground, plant about 18 inches apart.
