Here is the girly girl of the Supertunia series of hybrid petunias. All pink and pretty with its deep fuchsia color and multitudes of blooms all over the green foliage...but don’t judge it by its seemingly dainty appearance. This girl is the rockstar of the garden landscape, vigorously spreading out farther and faster than any other Supertunia variety, filling in, massing out and beautifully cascading out of hanging baskets and containers. You gotta have this in your garden!

The Supertunia Vista series of hybrid petunias are a more vigorous, disease resistant, faster growing petunia that is especially suited to massing out in your landscape. They spread out about 36 inches and quickly fill your space with loads of bright colors. Native to Zones 10a through 11b, they can take the heat and not stop. Grown as a long season annual in Zones 3-9, Supertunia Vista may add an additional month of blooming in the warmer deep south and last well into the fall in more moderate regions.

Supertunia Vista® Fuchsia Petunia Care

These long blooming annuals are easy to care for. Plant out after the danger of the last frost, give them a controlled release balanced fertilizer when planting, follow up with a water soluble fertilizer, every couple weeks when planted in containers, and every other month when planted in your landscape for best performance. They prefer a slightly acidic soil of pH 5.5 to 5.8 and will tolerate some shade, unlike most other petunia hybrids that require full sun to bloom profusely. These girls are resistant to most insect pests and plant diseases.

Deadheading is not required as these plants drop their spent blooms. Pinch back when first established to promote branching and more flower bud production. Prune back if it gets out of its bounds, and shear up to about ⅓ its volume if it becomes leggy during the hottest summer months. It will rebound in a week or so with renewed growth and flowering.

Supertunia Vista® Fuchsia Petunia Spacing

Space these girls about 18 to 32 inches apart to allow them to do what they do best: fill in your landscape. Growing up to 24 inches tall and spreading up to 36 inches wide, Supertunia Vista has been reported to trail up to 48 inches although 36 inches is more common. Choose a 12 inch or larger container and plant 3 to 5 plants per container for best display. Supertunia Vista Fuchsia pairs beautifully with verbena, lobelia, lantana, ipomoea, euphorbia, petunia, calibrachoa and a plethora of other sun loving annuals too numerous to mention. This is one annual you will not want to do without this spring!
