Mature Spread
Sparkling like a moonlit blanket of snow, this new powerhouse mini-petunia glows and glows. Snowdrift will bring the bloom all season through frost, in a refreshing combination of pure white petals, lime veining, and yellow stamens backed by green foliage. This pearly avalanche rolls through all summer on full bushy mounded trailers who can get up to four feet long. It can trail up to 32 inches long. Snowdrift is heat-tolerant, and requires zero deadheading.
Being on the taller side for a Supertunia, Snowdrift can bank up to 24 inches high and 48 inches wide by the end of the growing season. It is happy in full sun to partial shade, though best blooming performance will come from more sun. Hummingbirds and butterflies flock to Snowdrift and other Supertunias, bringing legions of colorful pollinators to your garden. They can star in any container solo, making perfect filler/spillers, or will make a great companion to almost any color. In the ground, their stature means they can be a drift or an accent along the edge or mid-border. What a lovely color for a garden seen in the evening, or to highlight a Mediterranean palette of blues, whites and lemon.
Supertunia Vista® Snowdrift Petunia Care
Despite the blizzard of bloom, this Supertunia needs less fertilizer than you might think. Usually, one application of controlled-release fertilizer at planting time will be enough in the landscape. If you have a very long growing season, a second application can be helpful.
In container plantings, controlled-release fertilizer can be re-applied about every two months, or water-soluble fertilizer regularly after two months according to product directions. Pruning can easily revive a plant that is looking a little peaked. Trim back about 1/3 of the volume of the plant, adding water-soluble fertilizer at this time. This can be repeated at any time.
Supertunia Vista® Snowdrift Petunia Spacing
In containers, twelve inches or more would be fair spacing for this vigorous grower. In the ground, 18 to 32 inches would be best, since they can grow three feet wide or more.
