Gaining notoriety because of its unique, cup-shaped leaves, Tiny Dancer Alocasia makes an excellent addition near a bright window or in a terrarium. This fast-growing petite elephant ear has vibrant green leaves with curled edges atop slender petioles. Like other Alocasias, Tiny Dancer thrives in bright, indirect light, and requires little more care than regular watering and humidity. Tiny Dancer Alocasia is considered toxic to pets and humans alike, so take care when placing it in a home with curious pets and children.

Best Locations For Growing Tiny Dancer Alocasia

Tiny Dancer Alocasia will thrive in a spot with bright, indirect light. Because of its need for higher humidity and frequent watering, Tiny Dancer Alocasia may do well in a bright bathroom or kitchen where it can be watered easily. Alocasias are among the plants considered best for air purification, making them a beneficial addition to your home.

Tiny Dancer Alocasia Sunlight Requirements

Alocasias generally grow best when they have access to consistent, bright, filtered light, and Tiny Dancer is no exception. Place this elephant ear in front of a north- or east-facing window, or slightly away from a south- or west-facing window, protected from intense afternoon sun to prevent the leaves from burning. To keep its growth even, regularly turn the pot so that each side has access to light.

Tiny Dancer Alocasia Care

Tiny Dancer Alocasia can stay in the same pot for up to two years before needing to be repotted. When choosing soil and a pot for Alocasias, opt for high-quality airy soils that allow for drainage. Alocasia rhizomes are large and fleshy, prone to root rot when kept too wet for too long. Tiny Dancer Alocasia prefers high humidity, so provide it with a pebble tray or humidifier, or mist the leaves regularly, especially in drier months. This Alocasia is particularly sensitive to cold, so be sure to keep it away from chilly drafts and cold windows.

Watering Tiny Dancer Alocasia

Like many Alocasias, Tiny Dancer prefers soil that is well-draining and moist. While Tiny Dancer Alocasia likes moisture, it will not tolerate soggy soil. Allow the top 2-3 inches of soil to dry before watering deeply, until water comes out the drainage holes. If the soil dries too much, the leaf edges will turn brown and crispy. Watering needs will change depending on lighting, humidity, temperature, and the season, so always feel the soil before watering.

Feeding Tiny Dancer Alocasia

During the spring and summer months, provide Tiny Dancer Alocasia with regular fertilizer, adding a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer to its water once a month. It is not necessary to fertilize in the winter as indoor plants tend to go dormant or grow at slower rates.

Plant Addicts Warranty - 1 Year (Extra Purchase Required)

We encourage all plant lovers to purchase the Plant Addicts Warranty, whether you're a new gardener or an expert. There are many variables outside of anyone's control that can cause a plant to die. Hungry animals, drought, poor soil conditions, over watering, diseases & pests are all good examples of what can cause plants to die. The Plant Addicts Warranty is a 1 year warranty protecting you from all of the unknowns and will replace your plant if something were to happen to it.

The warranty is purchased on a per plant basis and must be purchased at the same time as the plant(s). We will cover 100% of the price of the plant, but the warranty does not cover shipping costs. SImply let us know if your plant has died within 1 year of receiving it and we will get you a new one shipped out as soon as possible (depending on the time of the year and availability). We may ask for photos for documentation purposes, but we try to make the process as easy as possible.

Guarantee and Warranty

Plant Shipping

Below are some factors we consider when determining when to ship the plants depending on the timing of the order.

Winter to Early Spring

We ship only when it's warm enough to plant in your growing zone.
Sometimes plants aren't completely ready to sell and ship in early spring. We will wait until the plants are ready before shipping so you don't get a subpar product.
For Southern plants we will be able to ship much earlier than plants coming from our northern nursery.

Summer

If there is extreme heat we may delay shipping for a week or several weeks.
We review what areas the plants are traveling through as well as your location.

Fall into Winter

We’ll ship plants out all the way up to the end of the fall planting season!

Winter

Get your order in early to reserve your plants for Spring planting!

Once your plant is shipped you’ll receive an automated email with tracking information.
