Vanilla Butterfly® Marguerite Daisy (Argyranthemum frutescens) is the essence of a beautiful daisy. In it’s quintessential daisy form, this gorgeous selection is a beautiful soft yellow. With a spectacular display of soft yellow-white outer petals surrounding a dark yellow center of petals from early summer to mid fall. For a sturdy mounding habit of flowers expect an excellent display of continuous, and long lasting blooms that will take the heat. Vanilla Butterfly Marguerite Daisy will grow to approximately 36 inches tall at maturity, with a spread of 20 inches.
Vanilla Butterfly Marguerite Daisy is an herbaceous annual with medium texture in a mounded form. Heat tolerant and durable, Vanilla Butterfly Marguerite Daisy flowers are excellent for cutting. They are also a good selection for planting in both outdoor containers and hanging baskets. Often used as a 'thriller', in their mounding form, they provide a mass of flowers to the arrangement. Spiny narrow leaves remain green in color throughout the season. They are a big hit with bees and butterflies and deer do not particularly care for them.
Vanilla Butterfly® Marguerite Daisy Care
Vanilla Butterfly Marguerite Daisy is an easy-care, low maintenance plant. Deadheading is not necessary for this continuously blooming plant. Requires well-drained soil and does not tolerate wet feet. Be sure to allow container soils to dry completely on the top before watering again. Vanilla Butterfly Marguerite Daisy in garden beds requires good drainage. You can trim your plants with pruning shears at any time to shape and encourage a new flush of blooms. Light requirements are partial to full sun and hardiness zones 9 – 11. A yearly application of slow-release fertilizer or compost on garden beds and regular liquid fertilization of plants in pots will help ensure the best color and blooms.
This fast-growing plant can be expected to behave as annual and growth through winter, usually needing replacement the following year. Will not perform well indoors. Grow in the landscape as mass plantings, borders, in rock gardens and in containers or hanging baskets.
Vanilla Butterfly® Marguerite Daisy Spacing
When grown in mass or used as a bedding feature, plants should be spaced approximately 14 inches apart. Otherwise, spacing should be set at 10-12 inches apart in containers and hanging baskets. Another great feature is that the foliage remains dense right to the ground, so no other plants will be required up front.
