White Jewel Dracaena is an easy-to-care-for tropical with deep-green, strappy leaves edged in brilliant white. This plant is a great step up for any houseplant gardener wanting something special. Dracaena warneckii, also known as the Dragon Tree, is the perfect companion plant for other tropicals like Ficus and Schefflera. White Jewel Dracaena can spend summers outdoors on a patio or deck for most of the USDA hardiness zones. In zones 10-11, White Jewel makes a great outdoor plant in the landscape or a container.

Best Locations For Growing White Jewel Dracaena

White Jewel is a compact variety of Dracaena that can be tucked into the corner of the living room or a bright four-season porch. Planted as a specimen plant, White Jewel can be pruned into a treelike form. Dracaena is on the NASA list of air-cleaning plants and can help to take toxic fumes out of the air from carpets and furniture. Keep children and pets away from white Jewel Dracaena, as all parts are poisonous.

White Jewel Dracaena Sunlight Requirements

Bright indirect light from a south-facing window will encourage fast growth and strong vibrant color on the foliage. Dracaenas can tolerate medium and low light levels. The leaves may grow thinner, but the plant will grow very well. Artificial grow lights are a great option during the winter or for apartments or office space with no windows.

White Jewel Dracaena Care

Repot Dracaena approximately every 2-3 years when the roots start growing from the pot's bottom. These plants like to be slightly root-bound and should not be planted in too big of a pot. Only go up one to two sizes. A fast-draining potting mix will cut down on the chance of overwatering White Jewel; make sure the container you use has plenty of drainage holes. Only prune away leaves as they die back. Older leaves will die as the plant matures. Do not place White Jewel near heating or air conditioning vents. It does not like drafts and dry air.

Watering White Jewel Dracaena

Allow the potting soil to dry between waterings. Depending on humidity levels where it grows, check the moisture levels every 7-10 days in the winter and up to 3 times a week in the summer, when growth is at its fastest. Use tap water that has been left to sit for 24 hours, rainwater at room temperature, or spring water. Dracaenas appreciate high levels of humidity year round and benefit from misting with water every 1-2 days. Use distilled water to keep the glossy leaves from getting white mineral or salt marks.

Feeding White Jewel Dracaena

Fertilize this fast grower during the spring and summer. A diluted liquid houseplant fertilizer once a month will keep both the foliage and roots growing vigorously.

Plant Addicts Warranty - 1 Year (Extra Purchase Required)

We encourage all plant lovers to purchase the Plant Addicts Warranty, whether you're a new gardener or an expert. There are many variables outside of anyone's control that can cause a plant to die. Hungry animals, drought, poor soil conditions, over watering, diseases & pests are all good examples of what can cause plants to die. The Plant Addicts Warranty is a 1 year warranty protecting you from all of the unknowns and will replace your plant if something were to happen to it.

The warranty is purchased on a per plant basis and must be purchased at the same time as the plant(s). We will cover 100% of the price of the plant, but the warranty does not cover shipping costs. SImply let us know if your plant has died within 1 year of receiving it and we will get you a new one shipped out as soon as possible (depending on the time of the year and availability). We may ask for photos for documentation purposes, but we try to make the process as easy as possible.

Guarantee and Warranty

Plant Shipping

Below are some factors we consider when determining when to ship the plants depending on the timing of the order.

Winter to Early Spring

We ship only when it's warm enough to plant in your growing zone.
Sometimes plants aren't completely ready to sell and ship in early spring. We will wait until the plants are ready before shipping so you don't get a subpar product.
For Southern plants we will be able to ship much earlier than plants coming from our northern nursery.

Summer

If there is extreme heat we may delay shipping for a week or several weeks.
We review what areas the plants are traveling through as well as your location.

Fall into Winter

We’ll ship plants out all the way up to the end of the fall planting season!

Winter

Get your order in early to reserve your plants for Spring planting!

Once your plant is shipped you’ll receive an automated email with tracking information.
