Yellow Pear Tomatoes are unusually shaped and colored, adding some fun to your salads. These plants produce small, bright yellow, pear-shaped fruits that are mild in flavor. These plants produce a high yield, and the tomatoes grow to between 1 and 2 inches long. The plants can grow very big–4-8 feet tall and 3 feet wide! Yellow Pear Tomatoes are perfect for snacks, salads, and veggie platters.

Yellow Pear Tomato Care

If starting Yellow Pear Tomato plants from seed indoors, wait until the plants have reached 4-6 inches high and frost danger is gone before transferring outdoors. The plants should have adequate airflow between them so space them at least 36 inches apart. Yellow Pear Tomato plants will require a cage or trellis for support since they can grow very tall.

Growing Yellow Pear Tomato Plants

Yellow Pear Tomato Plants will mature within 70-80 days. These plants prefer a slightly acidic soil, so once they’re outdoors, amend the soil with compost for best results. Yellow Pear Tomato plants should be located in a spot that gets 4-6+ hours a day of bright sunlight. Water them regularly throughout the growing season.

The Yellow Pear Tomato might not be the best variety for containers due to its size. To grow this variety in a container, choose one with great drainage that’s at least 5 gallons or larger.

Watering Yellow Pear Tomato

Yellow Pear Tomato plants should be watered regularly throughout the growing season. Ideally, they should receive a few inches of water per week. Try to water at the soil level rather than overhead since this will decrease the risk of disease.

Feeding Yellow Pear Tomato

Fertilize each month with a formula for tomatoes after transplanting outdoors. After tomatoes appear, there’s no longer a need to fertilize.
