Arabian Jasmine is a vigorous grower with showy, fragrant flowers. The stately white flowers fade to a slight pink hue with age. The Jasminum sambac flowers are beautiful, but there’s more to them than just good looks. The flowers have an intoxicating scent that is sweet and fruity. The flowers bloom throughout the summer and may continue to bloom into winter in warm climates. Glossy, oval-shaped green foliage provides contrast with the white blooms.
Create a hedge or border with Arabian Jasmine. This plant can have a shrub-like form, or can develop an upright, spreading appearance when trained up a trellis or support. Plant Arabian Jasmine in a container to enjoy the fragrant flowers on a porch or balcony.
Arabian Jasmine Care
Grow Arabian Jasmine in full sun to partial shade. It prefers loamy, moist soil with good drainage and an acidic or neutral pH. Jasmine prefers dampness, so water when the soil is dry, but avoid overwatering and soggy conditions. Apply a balanced fertilizer to support continued growth.
Trim growth in the winter after the first frost. Arabian Jasmine can survive in areas with mild winter weather, so apply a layer of mulch to insulate the roots.
Arabian Jasmine Spacing
Arabian Jasmine reaches 4 to 5 feet tall and wide. Space landscape plants about 4 feet apart or grow one plant in a 12-inch container.
