Arctic Blaze® Red Sage (Salvia hybrida ‘Novasalred’) adds a dramatic splash of red from spring through fall, delighting the eye with upright spikes that tower above bright green foliage. Arctic Blaze® Red Sage Care

Choose a site with full sun exposure (at least six hours daily) and well-draining soil. Moderate watering in the first season supports root development, after which this sage becomes more drought-tolerant. A slow-release, all-purpose fertilizer in spring encourages consistent blooms, though overfeeding may result in leggy growth. Remove spent flower stalks periodically to refresh the plant and promote further bud production.

Prune spent foliage in late autumn or early spring to clean up the plant and allow new shoots to emerge. When growing in pots, use a high-quality, well-draining medium and water just enough to keep the soil moderately moist. For colder climates (zone 6), consider adding mulch around the root zone in late fall to insulate the crown. Bring container-grown plants to a sheltered spot if prolonged freezes threaten.
