Enjoy the stunning good looks of Foxglove flowers every year with the Arctic Fox Rose Foxglove. Most Foxglove varieties bloom every other year, but this cultivar produces flowers each year. This Digitalis hybrida has tall stalks covered in bell-shaped flowers in a rose hue with speckled throats. Enjoy the blooms from late spring through late summer. The flowers are complemented by green foliage that gives the flower stalks a full and lush appearance.
The Arctic Fox Rose Foxglove is a tall plant that makes an impression near the back of beds and mass plantings. Line a walkway or add height to a container with this lovely perennial. Trim the stalks to display the blooms in a vase. Pollinators, such as bees and hummingbirds, frequent the flowers. Grow the Arctic Fox Rose Foxglove as a perennial in zones 5 through 9.
Arctic Fox Rose Foxglove Care
Full sun is best for the Arctic Fox Rose Foxglove. Select an area that receives at least 6 hours of sunlight per day. Amend the soil with organic mulch or compost when planting to support the tall stems. This plant is not a heavy feeder, especially when grown in rich soil. Plants grown in poor-quality soil will benefit from an application of a balanced fertilizer in the spring.
Remove the greenery in the late fall after the first frost. Cover the roots with mulch to protect against cold winter weather.
Arctic Fox Rose Foxglove Spacing
The Arctic Fox Rose Foxglove stands 18 to 24 inches tall and 16 to 18 inches wide. Space plants 24 to 28 inches to create a dense planting.
