The Aromance® Mulberry™ Nemesia or Nemesia fruticans is native to South Africa, but the darling flowers and easy-to-maintain attitude make this beauty a favorite everywhere. The flowers have a two-lipped, tubular shape for a unique look. The petals are a purple hue with a bold yellow eye. The Aromance® Mulberry™ Nemesia is a long-blooming plant with flowers opening up in the spring and continuing to bloom during summer. Green, lance-shaped foliage grows in pairs.
Keep the Aromance® Mulberry™ Nemesia close by so you can admire the beautiful flowers and enjoy their sweet fragrance. Use this flowering plant as a filler in a container, or plant in the middle or front of a bed, or mass planting. Feature this nemesia in a hanging basket with other flowering plants for a burst of color and greenery. Aromance® Mulberry™ Nemesia grows as a perennial in USDA zones 8 through 10 and is grown as an annual in other areas.
Aromance® Mulberry™ Nemesia Care
Plant the Aromance® Mulberry™ Nemesia outside after there is no longer a threat of cold weather or frost. The soil should be moist and well drained. Choose soil high in organic material to support additional flushes of flowers. Apply a layer of organic mulch to retain moisture and give the plant extra nutrition. Nemesia plants need partial to full sun.
Plants in beds or borders benefit from an application of a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in the spring. Potted Nemesia plants do best with a monthly dose of a water-soluble fertilizer throughout the growing season. Aromance® Mulberry™ Nemesia is self-cleaning, which means the spent flowers fall away on their own, and deadheading isn’t necessary.
Aromance® Mulberry™ Nemesia Spacing
Aromance® Mulberry™ Nemesia is a medium-sized plant that reaches 10 to 18 inches tall and 12 to 18 inches wide. Space plants 8 to 10 inches apart to create a full bed, or feature 2 to 3 plants in a 12-inch container.
