Enjoy bold color from late spring through early fall with the Artisan™ Yellow Ombre Coneflower. Bold yellow petals surround and gently bend back from a large brown cone, giving this plant the trademark look of Echinacea. Flowers bloom on top of tall, thin stems, and the base of the plant fills in with lush, green foliage.
The Artisan™ Yellow Ombre Coneflower has an upright growth habit. With time, this Echinacea will spread to fill in a bed. Brighten up a border or mass planting with these tall plants that are a draw for both bees and butterflies. By fall, birds will eat the seeds produced by the cones. The Artisan™ Yellow Ombre Coneflower is low maintenance and drought tolerant, meaning once it is acclimated, it needs little attention. It is a dependable herbaceous perennial in USDA zones 4a through 10b.
Artisan™ Yellow Ombre Coneflower Care
Plant this coneflower in well-drained soil. The sunny-yellow blooms need full sun, so choose a spot that receives at least 6 hours of sunlight daily. New plants need consistent watering, but established plants can live in dry conditions. Water during a drought to keep this beauty thriving, but otherwise, it does not need supplemental water. Apply a balanced plant food in the spring to help this plant get off to a strong start.
Prune spent flowers to encourage more blooms. The growth can be cut back to ground level in the late fall to prepare for winter. Or, leave the faded blooms in place so birds can feed on the seeds.
Artisan™ Yellow Ombre Coneflower Spacing
The Artisan™ Yellow Ombre Coneflower is a mounded, upright plant that grows up to 34 inches high and 10 to 25 inches wide. Space plants 15 to 25 inches apart and divide the plants as needed every few years.
