The Autumn Starburst™ Encore® Azalea puts on a very impressive display when it blooms. Two-tone flowers feature coral pink petals with bold white margins, giving the blooms a striped appearance. The Rhododendron ‘Robleze’ is a prolific bloomer in the spring, and this plant will bloom again during the summer and fall. Subsequent blooms tend to produce a small number of flowers, but the plant will still put on a beautiful display.

This plant is a perennial in USDA growing zones 6 through 10. The flowers certainly steal the show, but this Azalea also features dark green foliage that hangs in there all year, allowing this evergreen to provide color and visual interest during the winter. Plant the Autumn Starburst™ Encore® Azalea along foundations, in borders or hedges, or use it in a container. This Azalea will attract butterflies and birds.

Autumn Starburst™ Encore® Azalea Plant Care

Find a spot that receives 4 to 6 hours of sunlight each day because this plant needs full sun to part shade to flourish. Azaleas prefer slightly acidic soil, and the soil should also be rich and allow for good drainage. Established plants need water maybe once or twice a week, but new plants will need water up to three times a week for the first year. Fertilize in the spring and early summer to encourage new growth and more flowers.

This plant stays compact and has a rounded growth habit, so it naturally maintains a good shape, and significant pruning is not generally needed.

Autumn Starburst™ Encore® Azalea Plant Spacing

The Autumn Starburst™ Encore® Azalea will grow 3 feet tall and 3.5 feet wide. For mass plantings or hedges, space the plants 2.5 feet apart to create a consistent wall of greenery. Space plants further apart if you want each individual plant to stand on its own.
