Flowering from late spring until late summer, the Bee-Mine™ Pink Bee Balm is a sure winner for providing long-season color. Also known as Monarda didyma 'Balbeemin', this bee balm produces stunning clusters of electric pink flowers above its pointed green foliage. A maximum height of 18 inches makes this perennial ideal for borders and containers alike.
The Bee-Mine™ Pink Bee Balm is a joy to grow with its impressive disease resistance and pollution tolerance. Furthermore, both deer and rabbits leave it alone, making it a good choice for a rural or wooded location. It has an upright habit that keeps the flowers standing proud, whether left on the plant or cut for a vase. Bee-Mine™ is winter hardy down to zone 4 and perhaps most effective when planted as a group.
Bee-Mine™ Pink Bee Balm Care
The Bee-Mine™ Pink Bee Balm thrives in full sun but can also be grown in partial shade. It prefers a fertile, moist and well-drained soil. Water well for the first growing season to help the plant establish. Mature Bee-Mine™ can tolerate some drought but performs best in moist soil. Although not strictly necessary, a balanced fertilizer can be applied sparingly in spring to give it a boost.
Removing faded flowers will help promote new blooms to form and help keep a tidy appearance. Cut back spent growth to ground level after the first frost, and mulch to protect the roots.
Bee-Mine™ Pink Bee Balm Spacing
Over time the Bee-Mine™ Pink Bee Balm will reach 15 to 18 inches tall and 14 to 16 inches wide. A spacing of 18 to 20 inches is recommended to provide good air circulation around plants.
