- Partial Sun to Full Sun (At Least 5 Hours of Direct Sunlight)
- Mature Height 15 - 18 Inches
- Mature Spread 15 - 18 Inches
- Growing Zones 5 - 9
Super deep pink to red petals emerge from an even deeper red center on this perennial that is a magnet for all types of pollinators and is loved by hummingbirds as well. The fragrant, dark green foliage contrasts nicely with the vibrant colored blooms on a plant that reaches a height of 15 to 18 inches with a spread of 12 to 15 inches. Plant this long season bloomer where you can enjoy its beautiful flowers, minty fragrance, and the many interesting creatures it will attract.
This low maintenance perennial has a naturally rounded growing habit and is highly resistant to powdery mildew disease. It is unpalatable to deer or small herbivores and is drought tolerant once established. An amazing choice for a wildflower garden, perennial garden, mass planting, walkway, pathway or patio planting and grown in a pot or container. Winter hardy in zones 5 to 9. Bee Balm grown in pots or containers would need to be planted in garden soil for the winter where temperatures fall below freezing for an extended period of time and repotted in spring. Alternatively, the pots or containers could be stored indoors for the winter in a cool, but sunny area that is above freezing. Native to North America.
Bee-You® Bee Happy Bee Balm Care
Bee Balm prefers an area with full sun but is accepting of partial shade. Grows best in average to rich, well-drained garden soil but accepts a wide range of soil types and likes a slightly acidic to neutral pH.
Bee Balm may be deadheaded to encourage new blooms and to help create a bushier plant. Cut back passed foliage to a few inches above ground in late fall. May be divided every 2 to 3 years to maintain the plant's vigor.
Bee-You® Bee Happy Bee Balm Spacing
Bee Balm should be spaced approximately 12 to 16 inches apart if grown as a mass planting, in the perennial garden, a wildflower garden, patio, walkway or pathway planting or if grown in pots or containers.
