Bejeweled™ Pink Pearls Bearded Penstemon introduces a flush of medium pink tubular flowers on sturdy stems, creating a cheerful show from late spring into early summer. It stands about 16 to 20 inches tall, forming a mounded shape that keeps your garden looking tidy. The narrow, dark blue-green foliage remains attractive throughout the warm months, emphasizing the bright bubblegum pink blooms. In our experience, hummingbirds frequently visit these blooms, adding lively movement and color to any sunny border.
This perennial handles heat and average moisture with ease, owing to its Southwest native origins. Plant it in rock gardens, mass plantings, or along walkways where pollinators will appreciate its nectar-filled flowers. The compact growth habit also works in mixed containers for patios or entryways. Adaptable and tolerant of different soil types, this penstemon brings lasting interest to landscapes while requiring minimal care.
Bejeweled™ Pink Pearls Bearded Penstemon Care
Select an area in full sun with well-draining soil and a neutral pH. Water regularly during establishment, then moderate moisture is sufficient once roots take hold. A balanced fertilizer in spring supports strong stem development and encourages ongoing color. This plant requires minimal feeding as it prefers leaner soil conditions.
Cut back spent flower spikes once the first flush fades to promote additional buds. If grown in containers, ensure proper drainage and watch for dryness, especially in hotter climates. In colder regions, a thin layer of mulch over the root zone helps the plant endure winter conditions. Clip away any damaged stems in late winter or early spring, allowing fresh growth to emerge.
Bejeweled™ Pink Pearls Bearded Penstemon Spacing
Place each plant around 20 to 24 inches apart in a row or cluster for ample airflow and room to reach its mature width. A larger container measuring at least 12 inches across will comfortably accommodate a new Bejeweled™ Pink Pearls specimen.
