Daylilies are a summertime staple known for bright and prolific blooms, and the Bela Lugosi Daylily completely lives up to this reputation. The large flowers are a staggering 6-inches wide and are a shade of deep purple with a lime green throat. Hemerocallis has tall, lance-shaped dark green foliage that gently arches, creating a fountain-like effect.

This award-winning cultivar will be the focal point of a bed, border, or mass planting. The beautiful flowers will stand out when planted alongside plants with neutral-colored blooms or look beautiful with similar colored flowers. The Bela Lugosi Daylily is a perennial in USDA zones 3 through 8.

Bela Lugosi Daylily Care

Daylilies are low-maintenance, and established plants grown in ideal conditions will require very little care. Plant the Bela Lugosi Daylily in full to partial sun in rich soil moist, and well-drained soil. Water when the top few inches of soil have dried out. Mature plants can handle drought, but watering them during dry periods helps them keep growing.

Apply a balanced fertilizer in the spring and consistently feed these plants during the growing season for continued growth. Remove spent flowers at the base to encourage more blooms.

Bela Lugosi Daylily Spacing

This upright flowering perennial has some height and will reach 28 to 34 inches tall and 18 to 24 inches wide. Plants can grow 16 to 22 inches apart for a row or mass planting.
