Choose Belleza® Dark Pink Gaura when you want a long bloom season without giving up precious room in a smaller bed or container. Growing about 16 to 30 inches tall and 18 to 24 inches wide, it stays more compact and better branched than older gaura types that can look loose by midsummer. Gaura lindheimeri 'KLEAU04263' carries deep pink blooms on airy stems above burgundy-toned foliage, so it brings both flower color and leaf contrast. Our landscape designers often use this one where standard gaura would feel too tall or too open for the space.
This herbaceous perennial is a North American native selection with a naturally upright habit, excellent heat tolerance, and a very long bloom season from early summer into fall. The flowers move lightly above the foliage and draw butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators. Its deep taproot helps it handle dry spells once established, and the shorter stems make it especially useful in patio pots, sunny edging, and mixed borders that need movement without flopping. It also holds up well in humid conditions, which is not true of every long-blooming perennial.
Belleza® Dark Pink Gaura Care
Plant Belleza® Dark Pink Gaura in full sun, although it will tolerate light shade. Plant in well-drained soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH. Sandy or loamy soil suits it best, and even average garden soil works if drainage is good. Avoid wet, heavy ground, especially in winter.
Water regularly during the first growing season so the taproot can settle in. Later, let the soil dry somewhat between deep soakings. Once established, this plant is quite drought tolerant, and too much water is more likely to shorten its life than a dry stretch. Fertilizer should be light, since rich feeding can lead to weaker growth and fewer flowers.
Cut back spent bloom stems after the first heavy flush to keep the plant smaller and push fresh flowering growth. In early spring, trim the old top growth down near the crown once new shoots begin to show. At the colder end of its range, winter mulch can help protect the crown, especially where drainage is uneven.
Belleza® Dark Pink Gaura Spacing
Space plants about 14 to 18 inches apart so the clumps can fill in while still keeping good airflow around the stems. For containers, use a pot at least 14 to 16 inches wide, and choose companions that like sun and quick drainage. In the landscape, pair it with Russian sage and blanket flowers for a hot-site planting that keeps color going through summer and into fall. In containers, combine it with petunias and lantana for a full, flower-heavy mix that matches its long-blooming nature.
