Although the Bellini Guava Crape Myrtle is compact in size, this perennial shrub delivers a dazzling floral display. The Lagerstroemia indica 'Bellaggua' has light pink flowers that bloom in rounded clusters. The flowers are often light pink near the base and dark pink near the tips. The ruffled blooms create a lovely texture and are offset by glossy green ovate foliage with smooth edges.

The low form of the Bellini Guava Crape Myrtle is excellent for a foundation planting or a border along a driveway or deck. This shrub can divide and define an outdoor area without blocking visibility. It is resistant to powdery mildew and can handle intense summer temperatures and humidity while still looking fantastic. This shrub is also deer resistant, making it a good choice for areas with a high deer density. Grow the Bellini Guava Crape Myrtle in zones 5 through 9.

Bellini Guava Crape Myrtle Care

Situate the Bellini Guava Crape Myrtle in full sun because this beauty needs at least 6 hours of sunlight to thrive. Use fertile, moist, and well-drained soil. Once established, this shrub is drought-tolerant, but provides the best bloom display with water during a dry period. Fertilize annually each spring to support continued growth.

Prune in late winter to shape the shrub. Routine pruning keeps the plant looking full and bushy. Apply a thick layer of mulch each fall to protect the roots from chilly winter temperatures.

Bellini Guava Crape Myrtle Spacing

Mature Bellini Guava Crape Myrtle shrubs reach 3 to 4 feet tall and wide. Space shrubs 3 to 4 feet apart to create a dense, continuous planting.
