Berries & Cream™ Peppermint Plant, otherwise known as Mentha Berries & Cream™, is a fantastic edible hybrid from Sara's Superb Herbs® that tastes of mint with a hint of, you guessed it, berries! With multiple uses in baked goods, drinks, and other culinary specialties, these delectable wisps of clean-tasting perfection can be dried and added to sachets. Emerald leaves complemented by blooms of violet will accompany whiffs of sweet mint perfume from summer to late fall. A delight to pollinators and people alike, Berries & Cream™ Peppermint Plant can be harvested throughout the summer and fall. Prune annually in the fall to encourage an even better crop the following year. The only caution you should take regarding this fast-growing, mounding herb is how to prevent it from overwhelming its neighbors.

Berries & Cream™ Peppermint Plant Care

This perennial herb thrives when exposed to full sun and when planted in loamy, moist, well-draining soil during the spring. The soil can be amended with peat moss or compost to increase the amount of humus. Berries & Cream™ Peppermint Plant prefers soil with a pH that varies somewhere from 5.6 to 7.5. In an effort to prevent this plant from roaming in the garden, consider planting it in containers buried underneath the soil. Doing so will help keep this herb’s fast-growing roots from invading the space of other nearby plants. Overall, Berries & Cream™ Peppermint is a fine choice to add to a culinary herb collection for any newbie gardener with little free time to spare.

Growing Berries & Cream™ Peppermint Plant

Berries & Cream™ Peppermint thrives when provided 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight. Growing to a maximum height of 12 to 24 inches, this compact herb will grow vigorously year-round.

If growing in a container, choose a pot that is at least 10 inches in diameter and is equipped with multiple drainage holes. Repot fast-growing Berries & Cream™ Peppermint once per year. When repotting, divide the plant into halves and place each section into a new pot that is one to two inches bigger than the old pot. Grown indoors, this herb is superb when used as a verdant filler to complement other multi-colored plants.

Watering Berries & Cream™ Peppermint Plant

Once established, Berries & Cream™ Peppermint requires average watering. Water containers two or three times per week.

Feeding Berries & Cream™ Peppermint Plant

If maintained outside and the soil is topdressed annually with compost, Berries & Cream™ Peppermint does not require fertilizer. If maintained inside, however, this perennial does require occasional feeding. Simply apply a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer at half the manufacturer’s recommended strength each month.
