The Berry Poppins® Winterberry Holly is a fantastic option for people wanting to grow winterberry shrubs, but with minimal space. These dwarf shrubs are compact but still produce a great show in the winter once the leaves drop and the berries grow. Birds love the berries but the shrub itself is deer resistant.

Be sure to plant these with Mr. Poppins® Winterberry Holly, which is the male shrub that will pollinate these bushes and ensure berries grow in the winter. These are native to North America, which means that the shrubs are easy to care for, disease resistant, and require minimal water once established.

Berry Poppins Winterberry Holly Holly Care

These bushes can tolerate a wide range of soil conditions from light dry soil to heavy saturated soil.

Pruning Berry Poppins Winterberry Holly is not necessary. For best results and maximum flower and berry production, only trim dead or sick branches. You may cut off branches in the winter for natural decor. But be sure not to prune too many branches, otherwise performance the next year is not impacted.

Because these shrubs are native to North America, very little care and maintenance is required once established. That means you do not need to worry about watering, fertilizing or pruning each year.

Berry Poppins Winterberry Holly Spacing

These bushes should be spaced out 3 to 4 feet apart, center on center. If you wish to grow a low mounding garden border or hedge, plant these 30-36 inches apart, center on center.

Ensure that you plant the male and female shrubs within 50 feet apart for best results and maximum berry production.

The plants arrived safe and sound. It was perfect timing as my husband and I were in the midst of doing other planting when the package arrived. We had one or two chilly nights but the plants were protected and doing fine. Thank you for the timely service. Diane

My plants were received in good condition and as expected. Unfortunately, I can't get the FedEx delivery guy to deliver to my front door as requested on my account. He left the package at the top of my 100 yard long driveway and I can't see the top. Fortunately, I left to do an errand and found the delivery.

I ordered 2 Berry Poppins and a Mr. Poppins from Plant Addicts. The plants arrived in a timely manner. I was surprised at how small all the plants were for the price (only a couple of inches high). I was glad they had marked which was which because at their size there were no distinguishing features. I planted all three and within a week all of the leaves have fallen off of the Mr. Poppins pollinator plant. I'm afraid it's already dead. That would be problematic as that is the pollinator. Not sure what to do about this as Plant Addicts includes a piece of paper in the order that says once they deliver the plants they are no longer responsible.
