This brilliant variety of geranium will dazzle your landscape with clusters of bright magenta flowers with lavender and silver accents and wine-red sepals. These flowers will fill your garden from late spring to midsummer. Full, lush foliage in a lively bright green makes the blooms pop and makes a dazzling display. The foliage will transform into exceptional red tones in the fall, adding depth and variety during many seasons.

Incredibly fragrant, Bevan’s geranium will attract kaleidoscopes of butterflies to your garden or landscape, drawn to its piney fresh scent. Drought tolerant, weed resistant, deer resistant, and rabbit resistant, Bevan’s Variety Bigroot Geranium is incredibly low maintenance and extremely hardy; perfect for gardeners developing their green thumb or who don't have as much time as they wish! This vivacious perennial is ideal as a groundcover or as an addition to a cottage-style garden or rock garden in either borders or garden beds.

Bevan's Variety Bigroot Geranium Care

Hardy in zones 3 through 8, this variety of geranium has a height of 8 to 12 inches and a spread of 12 to 24 inches. Plant it in an area with dry to average soil with a neutral to slightly acidic pH of 5.8 to 6.5. Take care to loosen the soil when planting this geranium to make room for proper root development. Full sun to partial shade is ideal for this plant, but harsh heat is not; make sure that this plant has partial shade during the hottest parts of the day in the summer to keep it from scorching in hotter climates. Water this geranium after the soil has been dry for a day or two, checking the soil with your finger for moisture. In the winter, control the amount you water this plant to avoid root rot. Use a slow-release flower fertilizer for general growth or a phosphate-rich fertilizer to increase the vibrancy and amount of flowers.

This perennial does not require heavy pruning. Instead, deadhead spent flowers and remove any disease or damaged stems, but leave this plant alone as much as possible.

Bevan's Variety Bigroot Geranium Spacing

Space your geraniums 18 inches apart to account for their full spread of 12 to 24 inches.
